SPECS Foundation: Two Strides Forward

SPECS Foundation: Two Strides Forward

A few weeks ago, SPECS Foundation decided to take a breather for a short while. This decision came about because of the current global situation. To ensure that all employees stay healthy and protected, some safety measures were taken. The company gave out reminders on how they should protect themselves and their families against COVID-19 even if they were working from home.

For SPECS Foundation, taking a step back means enabling them to take two strides forward. They polished the inner workings of their initiatives even more by further making plans and improving on methods they’ve been implementing. As a result, the foundation went back even stronger with even more solid plans for the future. With a rack-and-pinion-like motion, strides were made in the background. Everything was ready and prepared when everybody went back to work after a short working-hibernation.

The Puso Kitchen initiative never stopped serving their partner communities and barangays. Just a week ago, they gifted the partners (thru SPECS Foundation-Puso Initiative) with vegetables from Cordillera. They delivered the goods to barangays in Metro Manila and Cavite. These produce goods benefitted the three (3) Puso Initiatives namely Puso Market, Puso Vendor, and Puso Kitchen.

All projects prospered rapidly even during the respite from the pandemic circumstances. Their worries of slowing down did not happen, rather the respite gave them time to shelve unnecessary things and opened more doors to more communities and families. Now, all current paths are re-directed and strengthened. This new normal, you have this good ol’ SPECS Foundation — see them in a new light!

SPECS was started in 1986 by a group of Christian workers who saw the hunger, and risks the children were exposed to. They undertook the management and delivery of the different services and care for the poor families in the various communities in Pasay City. In 1987, it was registered with the Securities & Exchange Commission as a non-profit, non-stock, non-government organization. In 2002, SPECS built a home for boys and girls in Pasay City.
